How it works

How Guardian protects you, end to end.

Six stages. One agentic system. From your first enrollment to the final takedown report, every step is logged, auditable, and yours.

Stage 01

Enroll

You begin by creating a free Guardian account and connecting the parts of your public identity you want monitored. That includes social profiles, professional pages, and any photo or audio sets you maintain.

If you choose to enroll biometrics, Guardian captures a 30-second facial sweep and a 10-second voice phrase directly in the browser. The raw video and audio are processed in memory and immediately discarded — only mathematical biometric hashes remain on our servers.

Inside Guardian
Enroll mechanics
  • Capture runs in-browser via WebRTC
  • Hashes generated client-side, transmitted over TLS 1.3
  • BIPA & Washington MHMD consent flow
  • Deletion ETA: 72 hours, irreversible
Stage 02

Scan

Guardian launches parallel monitoring jobs across the surface web, adult and marketplace sites, the deep web (paywalled and indexed-but-hidden), and the dark web (Tor and I2P). NCII and dark web discovery runs continuously; surface web identity scans run on your protection schedule.

Each job runs on its own cadence: daily by default for surface web identity monitoring, with hourly cadence available for high-risk personas. NCII and dark web discovery jobs sweep continuously for changes and new uploads.

Inside Guardian
Scan mechanics
  • 5 parallel agents, sandboxed per layer
  • Surface · adult · deep · dark · NCII
  • Daily default · hourly for high-risk personas
  • Crawl politeness + abuse-resistant routing
Stage 03

Detect

When an agent encounters a candidate match, it routes it to Deep Media's Content Genome™ — the same forensic stack used to authenticate evidence for federal investigators. Faces, voices, names, and stylistic fingerprints are compared against your enrolled signature.

False positives are filtered aggressively. Only candidates with high-confidence matches surface to your dashboard. Synthetic media is flagged with the specific artifacts that triggered detection, so you can see exactly why something was caught.

Inside Guardian
Detect mechanics
  • Content Genome™ forensic stack
  • Per-finding artifact list (lip-sync, frame deltas)
  • Aggressive false-positive filtering
  • Synthetic-media specific signals
Stage 04

Verify

Before any takedown action, Guardian's agent prepares an evidence dossier: source URL, hash match score, frame-level analysis, voice fingerprint comparison, and platform metadata. You can review this in the dashboard or ask Guardian's chat agent to summarize the case.

For sensitive findings — NCII, impersonation, fabricated statements — Guardian holds for your explicit approval before issuing a notice. For high-confidence common-pattern violations, you can opt into auto-takedown.

Inside Guardian
Verify mechanics
  • Evidence dossier per finding
  • Confidence + source + match score
  • Sensitive findings hold for approval
  • Auto-policy available for common patterns
Stage 05

Takedown

Once you (or the auto-policy) approve, Guardian generates a TAKE IT DOWN Act-compliant notice tailored to the receiving platform. Most major platforms have a 48-hour removal window under federal law; Guardian's notices include the statutory language to invoke it.

For platforms outside U.S. jurisdiction, Guardian falls back to platform-native abuse channels, DMCA where applicable, and StopNCII hash submission for intimate-content cases. Status updates stream back to your dashboard.

Takedown mechanics
  • TAKE IT DOWN Act notice generator
  • DMCA + platform abuse fallback
  • StopNCII hash auto-submission
  • 48-hour federal SLA timer
Stage 06

Report

Every action is logged. Monthly you receive a plain-language report: scans run, candidates evaluated, findings confirmed, takedowns issued, and platforms responsive. Exportable evidence packages suitable for legal counsel or law enforcement are available from your dashboard.

Law-enforcement referral packaging — pre-formatted dossiers your attorney or investigator can hand directly to the FBI's IC3, state AG offices, or platform trust & safety teams — is available for high-risk personas during beta.

Report mechanics
  • Monthly plain-language summary
  • Exportable evidence packages
  • Law-enforcement referral packaging
  • Anonymous aggregate metrics only
FAQ

Common questions

Where is my biometric data stored?+

Biometric enrollment is processed in your browser. The raw video frames and audio buffers never leave your device. What we store is a one-way mathematical hash — a numeric fingerprint that cannot be reversed into an image or recording. Hashes are encrypted at rest and in transit, and tied to your account with role-based access controls. You can delete your biometric hash at any time from Account → Privacy; deletion is irreversible and completes within 72 hours.

How do I opt out or pause monitoring?+

Pause from your dashboard at any time. Pausing halts new scans within minutes; in-flight takedown notices already issued will continue through to platform response, since revoking them mid-flight can undermine future filings. Cancelling your account removes all scan data and biometric hashes within 30 days.

How does data deletion work?+

You can delete any individual scan record, any finding, your biometric hashes, your uploaded content, and your entire account. Hard deletion completes within 30 days for content and 72 hours for biometric hashes. Anonymized aggregate metrics (e.g. 'total takedowns issued this quarter') may be retained for compliance reporting; these contain no identifiable data.

How often does Guardian scan?+

During beta, monitoring jobs run on a continuous schedule — daily by default for surface web identity monitoring, with hourly cadence available for high-risk personas. NCII and dark web discovery run continuously.

Which platforms do you cover?+

Surface: Google, Bing, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Threads, Reddit, Pinterest, Tumblr, and the long tail of image and video hosts. Adult & marketplace: the major adult tube sites, marketplaces, and image boards. Deep & dark: indexed forums, paywalled archives, Tor hidden services, I2P, and breach leak indexes.

What happens when Guardian finds something?+

A finding lands in your dashboard with a confidence score, the source URL, an evidence summary, and a recommended action. You can issue a takedown with one click or ask Guardian to investigate further. For NCII matches, Guardian can submit to StopNCII with your consent to propagate the hash across coalition platforms.
